Chess Sets – What’s your preferred design
When it comes to playing chess there are many different styles of chess sets to choose from, first of all for the traveller you can have the foldaway magnetic chess sets which are very compact and easy to store, these are great chess sets as you can take the game wherever you go. The travelling chess sets are great fun as you could be on a plane or train or even on a spaceship on your way to mars and still be able to play chess.The pieces will never fall off the chess board as the underside of the pieces have a small magnet which sticks the chess piece firmly to the chess board.
Next up we have the resin bonded chess sets, now I remember making these myself when I was young, my father bought the rubber moulds in which you would pour the resin and when it goes hard you would have a perfectly formed chess pieces which make beautiful chess sets. Also the chess board can be made of this material and it's extremely durable and will take the hammering of even the worst looser!
There are plenty of new designs when I comes to chess sets, you can have glass chess sets, marble chess sets, granite chess sets, wooden chess sets, the list could just go on and on as there is no limitations when I comes to the material of the chess sets. Even on a huge scale where decades ago the used to use entire halls to make life-sized pieces of the game and this chess set would have a huge audience.
Chess sets have evolved over the years, experimenting with different materials and also even holographic chess sets are now starting to emerge. With a game as popular as chess the limitations are endless, let's hope that we can always enjoy a great traditional game of chess in years to come.
